Sharm El Sheikh; Thomas Cook will Commence Return Flights Today (6 Nov. 10am)
Thomas Cook will commence flights to bring holidaymakers home from Sharm El Sheikh today. As it stands there are two flights planned for today (6th November) flying into Birmingham and Gatwick. One flight tomorrow (7th November) into Gatwick, one flight on Sunday 8th November into Manchester and further return flights until all passengers have been brought home safely.
People who have travelled with the tour operator, "Red Sea Holidays" with Thomas Cook Airlines will also be repatriated.
If you are in resort on a Thomas Cook package holiday you will be provided with hotel accommodation until a return flight becomes available for you.
Passengers will not be permitted to take hold luggage on board the flights and this will be stored at the airports until such a time that it is safe to return it to the UK. Passengers will will be permitted to take 2 items of cabin baggage as long as they do not exceed the cabin baggage size limit and 1 should be placed under the seat, the other in the overhead locker.

The Thomas Cook return flight Schedule is below. There is a possibility that they may add a couple more flights to the schedule.
** MT5817 to Birmingham - Departs 17:35
**MT1847 to Gatwick - Departs 18:15
UPDATE!!! 5pm 6th November, Thomas Cook have stated that the Local Authorites in Sharm will only be allowing their Birmingham flight MT5817 to depart today. It is planned that this flight will drop off in Birmingham before flying onto East Midlands. Once remaining flight slots have been allocated to Thomas Cook to bring customers home, they will do so.

**TCX1627 to Gatwick - Originally due to depart 5th November at 17:30. New departure time: 6th November at 19:45.
**TCX2625 to Manchester - Originally due to depart 5th November at 18:35. New departure time: 6th November at 19:10.
**TCX5817 to East Midlands - Originally due to depart 6th November at 17:35. Flight is going ahead as scheduled.
The current UK Foreign office advice is to avoid all but essential air travel to Sharm El Sheikh. However the advice related to the resort of Sharm El Sheikh has not changed so there is no increased risk for people in resort.
All passengers due to depart on a holiday to Sharm El Sheikh between now and 12th November will be offered a full refund or the option to change their holiday.
Holidaymakers visiting the airports of Hurghada and Marsa Alam are not effected as there has been no change in the Foreign Office advice for these locations.
