Cultural Cities of the Upper Danube
After meeting your smaller, friendlier river cruise ship in Regensburg, you’ll have the following morning to explore Germany’s ‘medieval miracle’ before setting sail. The almost entirely preserved historic centre of Regensburg is home to an impressive collection of listed buildings – such as the double 105-metre-high spires of St Peter’s Cathedral – that are easily taken in on foot.
Along the Danube in Passau, a walking tour to the best way to discover the highlights of this Bavarian gem too. Wander the pretty streets of Passau to find soaring towers, stunning palaces and mighty churches and cathedrals including the iconic St Stephen’s Cathedral, which is a must-visit to marvel at its lavish interior, ornate pipe organ and grand bells alone. After Passau, Brabant heads for the heart of Austria’s breathtaking Wachau Valley, where you’ll be afforded opportunities to explore two of the region’s most enchanting destinations – Emmersdorf and Melk. You exploration of Wachau also includes scenic cruising through the valley’s gorgeous, world-renowned landscapes, which is sure to be a standout experience of your adventure.
Sailing onwards, Vienna - the first of three magnificent capital cities on your itinerary – awaits. With a full day to explore, you could opt to take the highly recommended tour of the grounds and gardens of Schönbrunn Palace – a legacy of the Habsburg monarchy – or visit Hofburg Palace, home of the Austrian crown jewels. Stadtpark and Ringstrasse are worth a visit too, while the chance to immerse yourself in Vienna’s famous musical heritage at the neo-renaissance State Opera and museums such as the Haus der Musik museum is not to be missed.
The diverse attractions of Slovakia’s capital await you next. An abundance of classic and contemporary architectural delights, medieval ruins and pretty parks and lakes vie for your attention in Bratislava, which is overlooked by the city’s majestic castle.
Finally, it’s on to Budapest, to succumb to the charms of the UNESCO-listed Hungarian capital. After enjoying the scenic sail into the city, be sure to visit the Buda Castle complex and the historic Millennium Underground Railway and stroll along Andrássy Avenue towards Heroes’ Square during your time ashore. The thermal healing baths here are the perfect place to relax and reflect on your adventures before heading home.

Built in 2006, this elegant and comfortable vessel has bright and spacious public areas and 79 well-equipped rooms and suites, spread across four decks providing an intimate, home-from-home feel. There’s the Amadeus Club, where you can sit back and take in unforgettable scenery with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee – which is available 24 hours a day – in hand, browse a small selection of books and newspapers, or play cards, games and puzzles. You can even catch up on your emails and social media on one of the desktop computers.
When the weather's fine, you can grab a drink from the Lido Bar out on Sun Deck before retiring to one of the many sun chairs to soak up the scenery and sunshine.
The Panorama Bar and Lounge is always a great place to relax, enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple and socialise, however it’s in the evenings when this stylish venue on Mozart Deck really comes to life. Gentle live entertainment rounds off each day here, with performances from singers, pianists and other musicians, complemented by specially-chosen regional acts where available.

For the ultimate indulgence, you might want to treat yourself to a soothing massage or luxurious bath experience at the Vital Club on Haydn Deck. Next door to the Vital Club is the Hair Salon, where you can perfect your current look or perhaps try something new at the hands of the expert stylist.
If you want to ensure you stay in shape during your river cruise, you can do so at Brabant’s on board Fitness Room. It’s open around the clock, so you can work out to your heart’s content and at a time that suits you. You can also use one of the boat’s complimentary bicycles for a leisurely bike ride ashore – it’s a great way to keep fit while exploring the charming towns, cities and villages on your itinerary.
While river cruises focus on unforgettable scenic cruising and time exploring inspirational destinations to provide the most rewarding experience possible, you're sure to find that Brabant has plenty to keep you entertained throughout your time on board our smaller, friendlier river cruising ship too.
