This hotel’s in a top spot for nightlife. Hop in a taxi, and the lively village of Stalis is just a five-minute drive away. Or, 10 minutes’ drive in the other direction will find you in neon-lit Malia.
With a beachside cocktail bar overlooking a private stretch of sand, this place makes the most of its fantastic sea views. It’s no slouch on the food front either, with three restaurants and another four bars making up the total.
There are five swimming pools here, including an indoor number and one that’s just for kids. You’ve also got your pick of two pool bars, Apollo and Poseidon, which both whip up rainbow-coloured cocktails and sandwiches.
FOOD & DRINK
In the main restaurant, Alexandros, you’ll find a buffet at breakfast and dinnertime. In Meltemi, it’s all about traditional Greek meze. And at the Kriti Taverna, you’re set up for Greek nights* and romantic à la carte dinners overlooking the bay of Malia.
Dionyssos is the main bar here, where you can wash down the ocean views with a glass of Greek ouzo. Down on the seafront, you’ll find the Alexander Beach Club. Here, you can grab an ice-cream, chow down on Greek specialties, and work your way through the cocktail menu.
SPORTS & ACTIVITIES
There’s a pair of tennis courts for starters, plus you’ll find volleyball nets on the beach. You can get the energy up with a morning session of aqua aerobics in the pool, and then dial it down with yoga or pilates.
On the beach, you can get stuck in to watersports, like parasailing* and snorkelling*. For younger guests, there’s a hotel-run kids’ club and a playground.
After dark, make a beeline for the Poseidon Bar, where you’ll find a mix of live music, dance shows and games on each evening. Just outside the hotel’s front door is the Alexander Lounge Cafe, which is perfect for a tipple or three before an evening out.
Malia is the place to hit the dancefloor, with bars and clubs lining the seafront. Jump in a taxi, and in less than 10 minutes you’ll be in the thick of it.
HEALTH & BEAUTY
In the Alexander Spa, you can relax in the hammam* and the sauna*, treat yourself to a massage*, or take a dip in the rasul bath*. There’s also a wellness bar, where you can swap your daily cocktail for a health-boosting super food drink.
You’ll find the gym fully equipped for your mid-holiday workout.
You can expect air-conditioning and balcony or terrace in all rooms here. There’s twin rooms with garden views which for a bit extra can come with views of the sea. If there’s more of you staying- there’s also 1 bedroom family rooms. Some garden-view twin rooms are available on special offer.
