Stalis is situated on the north coast of Crete next to Malia and Hersonissos, indeed it is difficult to see where one resort ends and the other starts. Once a small village, Stalis has developed over the years with the tourist in mind and whilst being quite lively, it is quieter than both its near neighbours.
Getting about in Stalis
In high season a mini train runs around the resort of Stalis and into Malia and there is a frequent bus service linking all the towns from Heraklion to Aghios Nikolaos. Car and bike hire is also readily available.

Stalis is a good base for exploring with boat trips to the island of Spinalonga, a former lepper colony or Santorini, or visit one of the many archaeological sites on the island such as the palace at Knossos. For the more adventurous there are mountain bike tours, jeep safaris and visits to one of the waterparks on the island.
