Colonial style is mixed with Egyptian-themed glamour on board this Nile cruiser. From the foyer’s grand marble floors, to the buffet restaurant’s chunky wooden chairs, The Orchid has an old-world charm about it. But the ship has got modern-day comforts covered, too. All the cabins have air-con and a mini-fridge, and there’s a good-sized pool on deck.

Itinerary

Watch five millennias' worth of history float past as you wind your way along the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, and back again. During the day, visit ancient temples, haggle with locals over a mini-pyramid souvenir, and tick off some of Egypt's blockbuster sites. Or, just stay on board and enjoy the sunshine, pool side. At night, meanwhile, get ready for star gazing and fun entertainment.

Day 1 - Walk up your cruise ship's gangway, find your cabin and settle in.

Day 2 - Tick off some of Egypt's big names today with an excursion to Luxor's West Bank where you can see the Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon and Hatshepsut's Temple. Tonight, you can catch the Sound and Light Show at Karnak.

Day 3 - Pull on your walking shoes for an optional excursion to Luxor's West Bank & the East Bank. In the afternoon, set sail for Esna.

Day 4 - Kick off your day with an optional excursion to Kom Ombo, home to the famous temple of Sobek. It's unique because it's dedicated to not one, but two divinities - Haroeris and Sobek. While you're here, check out the chapel of Hathor. It's home to three mummified crocs.

Day 5 - Sail from Kom Ombo to Aswan and along the way see the Aswan High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Philae Temple.

Day 6 - It's an early start, but the world-famous temples at Abu Simbel are one of today's optional excursions. If you'd prefer, you can enjoy a boat trip instead. There is an optional excursion in the evening to the Philae Sound & Light Show, then it's all aboard to return to Luxor.

Day 7 - Today you'll head back to Luxor's West Bank. If you fancy exploring, set off on an excursion to discover Medinet Habu, the Temple of Ramses III. Inside, the walls are decorated with reliefs so colourful they look like they're freshly-painted. While you're in the area, pay a visit to Howard Carter's former home - it's at the entrance to the Valley of the Kings.

Day 8 - Pack your bags, because this afternoon you'll either head back to Luxor Airport for your flight home, or on to your Twin Centre destination.
