Rex Rheni

On the popular Rex Rheni all on-board activities are designed with you in mind, and as your tour operator has total control over the itineraries they make sure you will visit the most interesting destinations and follow the best route! The friendly crew will soon make you feel at home, and it's easy to get to know and socialise with your fellow travellers – oh, and there won't be any language barriers either, as all announcements made in English.

The ship offers great on-board facilities, including a brand new state-of-the-art lift, and a relaxing environment, ensuring you enjoy your days of cruising as much as your time ashore.

Rex Rheni’s amenities include a spacious lounge with large windows from which you can can enjoy the passing scenery and a small library. It's also where you'll find the well-stocked bar and where you can help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day.

On the deck below the lounge/bar is the restaurant, whilst up top you'll find the partially-shaded sun deck lined with comfortable sun loungers plus a fitness cycle, table tennis and deck quoits.

There are steep steps between decks. A lift serves the Sun Deck, Promenade Deck and Main Deck. There is a chair lift serving the forward passenger deck cabins (Cabins 105 to 112). All other passenger deck cabins can only be accessed via stairs.

All cabins include air conditioning, a seating area, storage space, permanent twin beds, a television, telephone to reception, reading lights, wardrobe, shower room with wc and a safe (available for a small charge).

Wi-Fi internet access is also available for an extra charge.

Cuisine

Kick-start the day with a buffet-style breakfast and maybe have 'the full English' to fortify you on excursion days! If you're back on board for lunch this will be a leisurely three-course affair, while dinners stretch to four courses (there's always a choice of main course). As the restaurant is large enough to seat all guests, you'll never be rushed to finish your dessert and make way for the next sitting.

Sometimes there will be special themed dinners, and if you tend to get peckish as the midnight hour approaches, you'll find late-night snacks in the lounge. Keep an eye out for the ship's extra-special chocolate fondant served with cherries as well – it's their signature dish and always gets five stars from guests!

Cabins

The cabins, all refurbished for 2015, are spread over three decks. All are compact, comfortable and air conditioned with a seating area, storage space and permanent twin beds. Facilities in your cabin include a television, telephone to reception, reading lights, wardrobe, and shower room with wc. A safe is available for a small charge.

Tulips bloom in the Keukenhof

With over 7 million tulips, daffodils and hyacinths, a visit to the Keukenhof Gardens is a must for any gardening fan and the perfect river cruise excursion...

The beautiful Keukenhof Gardens
A riot of colour doesn’t even begin to do justice the glorious annual spring resurgence of blooms at the famous Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands.

Keukenhof Gardens, in the small Dutch town of Lisse, is home to no fewer than 800 different types of tulip. No, we had no idea there were that many varieties either.

In the flower world, Keukenhof is a place where such superlatives count. Spring sees some seven million bulbs emerging in all their colourful pomp, across a vast 32-hectare space devoted to stunning floral displays and a joyful, relaxing – and properly photo-friendly and family-friendly - experience for all.

Themed flower shows Keukenhof also plays hosts to themed flower shows in its pavilions during the spring months, with its series of gardens varying stylistically from the English landscape style to classical Japanese style and more, to name but two.

And it’s not all about the tulips, mind you: uplifting displays of daffodils and hyacinths, too, vie prominently for the days in the sun on the Keukenhof.
