Description

Your Accommodation: The 40 detached bungalows overlook welltended tropical grounds. They are airconditioned, spacious, simply furnished and have a large terrace, twin beds and a private shower and wc. There is also a 13-amp power point and a safe, for which a charge is made. The bungalows have the added attraction of a small, separate lounge area. Please note: It is possible to accommodate a third person in a standard twin room.

Wining and Dining: A small open-air restaurant overlooking the lagoon offers varied hot and cold buffet style meals at breakfast and lunch. Dinner will be served from either a buffet or table d'hote menu in an intimate, open-air restaurant which overlooks the pool. For that special occasion, a separate à la carte menu specialises in local seafood dishes at very reasonable prices. Refreshing drinks are available throughout the day from the 'Dhow' bar which has stunning views over the beach and lagoon beyond. In the evening, the Laguna bar is a popular meeting place.

Facilities and Entertainment: The unique location of the hotel on Kilifi lagoon means that it benefits year-round from perfect conditions for windsurfing and canoeing, both of which are free of charge. Scuba diving and snorkelling equipment are also available to hire at the hotel. For the less energetic, simply soak up the atmosphere of Kenya by relaxing on a sun bed, which are free to guests, around the swimming pool which overlooks the hotel's small beach. Please note that pool towels are not provided. The pace on dry land is more relaxed - the hotel has a tennis court (free equipment and court hire) and the staff organise occasional daytime activities such as beach volleyball, water aerobics, table tennis, darts and board games. In the afternoon, a lesiurely boat trip to Bird Island should not be missed, where you can see the many varieties of bird life that live in the mangroves (payable locally). Evening entertainment is provided several nights each week.

Excursions: A programme of exciting optional daytime and evening excursions is available during your stay at the Laguna Sea Lodge. The full day Mombasa tour takes you to the historical port of Mombasa where trade ships once sailed between Arabia, Persia and India. Our Mida Creek full day trip takes you by boat to a small island for a barbecue lunch and then to a local Giriama village. A half day Malindi tour visits the town and the Gedi Ruins, the remains of a 13th Century Islamic walled city. Prices of excursions start from just £22 per person and are only bookable locally. Safaris available - starting from just £129 per person

Diving Holidays: Diving is available offering excellent facilities for both the beginner and more experienced diver at African Safari Club's private marina on Mtwapa Creek ("Pirates Bay"), which is just a 45 minute transfer from the hotel. PADI courses are available throughout the year. These are only bookable locally.
