Holiday Information

Choose the extremely popular Hotel Jägerwirt and you’ll be staying just a short stroll from Kitzbühel’s cosmopolitan centre. Within five minutes you can be browsing the many boutique shops or trying your first sip of local brew Stiegl. Also just a short walk away is the Hahnenkamm gondola which takes you high up into the Kitzbüheler Alps.

The Jägerwirt itself looks great, decorated in the style of a Tirolean hunting lodge - in fact Jägerwirt translates as the ‘Hunter Landlord’. From outside you’ll see the ornate frescoed walls and wooden balustrades lined with flowers, and once you walk through the doors, warm colours, natural woods and the interesting knick-knacks hint at the history of the hotel.

The Jagerwirt has been run by the Bartenstein family for four generations now and the team there couldn’t be friendlier.

At breakfast you can tuck into a wide selection from the buffet while dinner times are a tasty mix of classic Austrian dishes and some more familiar international choices – all presented beautifully. There’s also a great choice of wines to choose from to help complement your meal. ‘Me time’ is well catered for too. There’s an indoor pool and a separate wellness area with Finnish sauna, steam room and relaxation area.

If you fancy a drink without going too far you have two choices. The main hotel bar is a little quieter and great for chatting through the day’s experiences - but neighbouring Sigi’s Sportsbar is perfect for keeping up to date on your favourite team’s progress or a game of pool.

Austrian twin beds

Kitzbühel

'A small, sophisticated town with colourful architecture, mountain walks and breathtaking scenery'

  • Step back in time with a little Tyrolean history at the Kitzbühel Museum.
  • Sample the traditional Tiroler Gröstl - fried meat, potatoes and herbs topped with a fried egg.
  • Dip your toes into the warm healing waters of Schwarzsee Lake.

Right in the heart of the Kitzbüheler Alps, Kitzbühel is a cosmopolitan mountain town bordered by pretty walking paths and the sparkling Schwarzsee lake.

The lake and the mountains come together in Kitzbühel. One day, you’re soaking up the sun beside the Schwarzsee, the next, you’re picking up a Wanderwegplan (walking map) and exploring the mountain paths on Kitzbüheler Horn – and spotting some of the 300 different species of plants to spot in its Alpine flower gardens.

It may be affectionately known as Glitzy Kitz thanks to its upmarket shops and cafés, but there’s so much more to Kitzbühel. Dating back to medieval Bavaria, it’s filled with cobbled streets and colourful, frescoed buildings. And towering over its rooftops is the Church of St Catherine, considered a perfect example of the high Gothic style. But it’s those views from the mountaintops that’ll take your breath away – just hop on the summer lifts and you’re there.

The town really comes alive in summer, with loads of different events and festivals - from the Kitz on Wheels festival in mid-July, when bikers spend the weekend showing off their wheels, to the highly popular Town Band festival in early August, which is an amazing weekend of music and fun. So whenever you choose to visit, they'll always be something to make your holiday memorable.

Optional Excursions* (*Extra Charge)

Berchtesgaden Spend a day in the pretty Bavarian village of Berchtesgaden, with its museums, glacial river and picture-perfect church. This beautiful corner of Germany is best known for its salt mines and for Hitler's famous Eagle's Nest. Visit this fascinating historic mountain-top retreat for some awe-inspiring views of the valley.

Salzburg
A day in Salzburg, the city made famous by Mozart, The Sound of Music and its scenic mountain backdrop. Stroll through the cobbled old town, passing the cathedral and medieval fortress before crossing the river to the magical gardens of Mirabell Palace. A guided city walk is available for an extra charge.

Grossglockner
Meet marmots, visit the museum or just enjoy the scenic views on this trip to the glacial base of the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain. On the way back there'll be time for a stop in Zell am See, for an ice cream beside Lake Zell or to drop in at the town’s 11th century church.

Krimml Waterfalls Walk
A guided trip to the healing Krimml Waterfalls, whose healing waters tumble down over three impressive tiers, all set in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. A steep, scenic path leads to some beautiful views, or you can skip the walk and catch a taxi to the top.

Hidden Lakes Tour A chance to see some of Wilder Kaiser’s lesser known lakes. The first stop is Walchsee, with its peaceful promenade. Then it’s on to the remote lake of Hechtsee, which sits above Kufstein, where you’ll stop off to see the 13th century fortress. After that you'll go via the Rein valley lakes to the medieval town of Rattenberg.

Other excursions included Canyoning Package, Canoeing package Beginner, High Ropes Course, Paragliding Experience and River Rafting and BBQ Experience.

Please note; Some entrances, tolls and optional extras are payable locally and days of operation are subject to change.

Krimml Waterfalls includes quite a few steps and steep sections that may not be suitable if you have limited mobility or are a wheelchair user.

Kitzbühel - Getting About

Walking
Within its city walls, Kitzbühel’s centre is predominantly car-free, meaning you can wander around ancient streets admiring the pastel shades of the historical buildings without worrying about rush hour.

With over 1,000km of marked trails, from the valley floor to the peaks, Kitzbühel really is a walker’s paradise. If you like to take it easy, go for a gentle 20-minute stroll to Lake Schwarzee, or follow the nature trail at Hintenbachalm to see the many species of flora and fauna. If it’s views you’re after, jump on the Hahnenkamm gondola and follow the Panorama Loop Trail or Hahnenkamm ridge walk for stunning scenes of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains. Other marked routes will take you to impressive sights such as the Sintersbacher waterfalls or the towns of Kirchberg or Aschau.
