located in south west Turkey. The resort is a working town
with a fishing port and marina and lies between pine forests and
the Mediterranean Sea.
Who is Fethiye suitable for?
Although there are beaches within reachable distance of Fethiye,
it is not considered to be a beach resort. Set back from the coast,

Sightseeing in Fethiye
Fethiye is rich in history and you'll find a wealth of
interesting sites among the narrow, winding streets of the town's
centre including numerous sarcophagi and the Fethiye tower. Another
popular attraction is the rock tombs, carved into the cliffs by the
Lycians in the 4th century BC.
In the Fethiye Museum visitors can learn more about the history
of the local area through artifacts including ceramics, jewelry and
statues. Many date back to the ancient Lycians when Fethiye was
known as the settlement of Telmessos.
Butterfly Valley, a canyon of cliffs up to 350 metres high, is
home to thousands of butterflies including the unique Jersey Tiger
variety. Trekking and hiking routes are available here as well as
easier walking options for the less adventurous.
Many visitors choose to explore the Turkish countryside by bike
on their holiday to Fethiye. There are lots of
tracks among the pine forests offering the chance to discover local
farmlands and villages.
