A holiday to Lardos on the island of Rhodes is ideal for the more independent traveller in search of a relaxing and peaceful holiday in a typically Greek village.   Lardos is situated approximately 2 miles inland on the east side of Rhodes midway between Lindos and Pefkos.
What is life like in Lardos?
Life in Lardos is centred around the leafy village square with its natural spring water fountain where many of the locals still prefer to get their water.  Why not join them in the square where you will find many of them taking Greek coffee or maybe the local ouzo while chatting or playing the traditional game of Tavly (similar to backgammon).  Some evenings will find live music played in the square by one of the local bands while some of the bars will play more contemporary music.
The village of Lardos with its peaceful and slow pace of life has attracted a growing number of British ex-pats and as such a few British restaurants and bars have opened next to the more typical tavernas offering a selection of Greek and International cuisine.  In addition, a holiday to Lardos will give you all the modern facilities you may need, such as pharmacy, bank, doctors, various shops and car and bike hire.
What are the beaches like near to Lardos?
A trip to the Beach from the village of Lardos will involve travelling to either Lothiarika with its pebble and sandy beach or Lardos Beach which stretches for some miles and has a selection of water sports available.  The beach at Pefkos is long and narrow with sunbeds and a couple of beach bars.

A local bus service connects Lardos to Rhodes Town and Lindos but if taking a taxi, it is better to agree a price before hiring.
On holiday in Lardos make time to visit old Rhodes Town and explore the many old cobbled streets and lanes.  There are a number if boat excursions available from Rhodes Town including trips to the island of Symi and the port of Marmaris on theTurkish mainland.  No holiday to Lardos would be complete without a visit to nearby Lindos, with its picturesque houses perched on the hillside overlooked by the ancient acropolis.
