Deya Holidays Holidays

Holidays to Deya (local spelling Deia)

A holiday to Deya will find you in a beautiful old village situated on the hillside on the quiet north west coast of Majorca.  A favourite with writers, musicians and artists, the poet Robert Graves lived in Deya in the 1930's and is buried in the old churchyard.
Why visit Deya?
Overlooked by the old church, the picturesque village of Deya is built on steep slopes with the houses joined by narrow lanes.  The mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana look down on the village, a firm favourite with the more mature traveller.
Downhill from the village of Deya is the small cove where local fishermen still sail out for the daily catch. You can swim or snorkel from the small pebble beach and one or two hotels have their own sunbathing and swimming areas.
A holiday to Deya is essentially low key and ideal for a quiet relaxing stay surrounded by beautiful scenery.  In view of the steep nature of the landscape and number of steps in the village, it would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
Deya has a small selection of restaurants and tapas bars offering local Mallorcan food with some small bars perfect to try out the local beers and wines.
Shopping in Deya tends to revolves around galleries and studios.
