The Murano Glass Factory offers a chance to see famous local glassmakers crafting beads, paperweights and many other beautiful glass objects. On Burano you'll find lace makers creating beautiful needlework alongside Museums housing examples of Venetian and Burano laces.
Culture and history in Venice
A Venice holiday is a perfect destination if you're looking for culture and history in equal measure. Saint Mark's Basilica is one of Venice's most famous churches. It is an excellent example of Byzantine architecture and sits opposite Doge's Palace, once the official residence of the 120 Doges that ruled Venice.
Eating out in Venice
Italy is a dining out nation and holidays to Venice reflects this. The city is filled with hundreds of restaurants offering Venetian classics. Cuttlefish and its distinctive black ink is a Venetian staple and fresh fruit from street sellers is also a popular favourite. Be sure to try the excellent local wines and of course Tiramisu, Venice's most famous dessert.
