Positano is an Italian resort located along the country's Amalfi
Coast. This picturesque town begins on the sea front and reaches up
steeply into the surrounding countryside, with many colourful
houses built onto the hillside above the beach.
The centre of the town is dominated by the coloured dome of Positano's main church, the 10th century Santa Maria Assunta.

Positano holidays offer a Mediterranean climate with year-round
sunshine and pleasant weather even during the winter months.
The busiest time for holidaymakers is between May and September
with July and August seeing peak numbers due to the high
temperatures. Positano's coastal location means that on the hottest
days a cooling sea breeze is a welcome presence.
What is the beach like in Positano?
The pebbled beachfront at Positano is a draw for many
holidaymakers. There are two main beaches, the Spiaggia del
Fornillo and the Spiaggia Grande. The Spiaggia Grande is the larger
of the two and contains a busy port whilst at Spiaggia del Fornillo
you'll find a more sedate seaside experience. Both beaches offer a
variety of water sports including snorkeling and windsurfing and
diving trips are available from Spiaggia del Fornillo.

Having grown from a small fishing village, a holiday to Positano
still retains a lot of its traditional charm. Its hillside location

Dining options on your Positano holiday are focused in two main areas - on the beachfront and in the town. Along the beach you'll find freshly caught seafood served with a sea view but head inland for more traditional fare. It's always a good tip to head where the locals go, you're guaranteed good food and chances are it'll be cheaper than you'd find at the restaurants aimed more at tourists.
